Volunteer With Utah 4 Wheel Drive
Association
U4WDA is a 100% all-volunteer
organization. We count on involved members and 4x4 users to complete our
mission to protect 4x4 access on public lands and educate 4x4 users in
Utah.
Being a volunteer with U4WDA
is easy! All it takes is commitment and a desire to help the 4x4 community.
Whether you have a few hours per week or a few hours per month, we need
all the help we can get.
U4WDA is always in
need of volunteers to work at service projects, serve on the Board of
Directors, and assist with activities.
Review the list of current volunteer
needs below, and contact us if you
think you can help out.
Upcoming
Service Projects
U4WDA 2009 National
Public Lands Day - September 26, 2009
Join the U4WDA in the nations largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve
and enhance the public lands across America. Last year, with the help
of over 400 volunteers, U4WDA member clubs organized projects across the
state of Utah that repaired trails, cleaned up camsites, built and repaired
fences, removed trash and held information workshops.
This year, U4WDA invites you to join us for our Nations 2009 National
Public Lands Day - More

President's
Projects
The "President's Projects"
are long or short term projects initiated by the association President
to benefit U4WDA's mission and goals. While some have
claimed these projects to be "busy work" there is no such thing
in an all-volunteer organization. Each one of these projects is intended
to assist with a specific aspect of our long term strategy for protecting
and promoting responsible motorized access on public lands.
GIS and Digital
Mapping
U4WDA has a need to be able to accurately document OHV
routes, and produce detailed digital (and printable) maps with the data.
We need someone with computer and GPS skills or interest who can assemble
the necessary equipment, software, and training for U4WDA
to be able to provide this type of data to land managers and users.

Local, State,
Federal, and Business Grants
U4WDA qualifies for many types of grants available through
various local, state, federal, and business entities. These badly needed
funds could be used to support legal action, provide badly needed resources
for land managers, and grow U4WDA as an Association.
We need someone to do a little digging, and follow the leads we've already
established to determine what type of grants are available.

Club Grants
U4WDA has a desire to make micro-grants available to
member clubs working on public land projects in their area. These grants
would be in the $100-$250 range depending on need and value to the 4x4
community. The Board of Directors has approved the concept, and all we
need now is the framework for applying for and awarding these grants.
Other programs in place with BRC and UFWDA could be emulated to determine
the parameters for this grant program.

U4WDA Email List
U4WDA operated a Yahoo Groups email list to notify members
of land use information and upcoming events. This list has proven to generate
more problems than results. We are in need of a commercial email list
service or software product that can be easily managed and operated for
non-technical users and administrators.
